On the fourth weekend of March, Hermann once again stakes its claim as the "Sausage Capital of Missouri." During the 2008 Wurstfest . . .


Old-World delicacies, such as Bratwurst, Leberwurst, Schwartenmagen and Sommer Sausage, will be available to sample and purchase at the Stone Hill Winery Pavilion and Hermannhof Festhalle. (admission fee).

Entertainment will include performances by the Rhineland Wurstjaeger Dancers and live German music.

A statewide sausage-making contest will be judged Saturday at the Festhalle. Winning entries will be exhibited Sunday from 11:00 to 4:00.

Old-time sausage making will be demonstrated at Stone Hill Winery, and antique sausage- and wine-making equipment will be displayed at the Festhalle.

A whole-hog sausage breakfast will be served Sunday morning from 7:30 to noon at Hermann Fire House #2.

The crowd-pleasing Wiener Dog Derby starts Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Hermann City Park. Dachshunds are invited to enter in relay races, costume contests and more. Registration is Sunday at 11:00.

Wine tasting and/or tours will be available at Adam Puchta, Bias, Bommarito, Hermannhof, Röbller, Oak Glenn and Stone Hill wineries.
