Children's Lantern Parade
Friday, November 28
6:30 p.m.

The Christmas season officially begins in Hermann with a traditional Lantern Parade through the Downtown Historic District. In Germany, the traditional festival of lanterns celebrates the generosity and compassion of Martin of Tours, a German knight who gave half his coat to a beggar. The parade starts and ends at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheatre at 5th and Gutenberg. After the parade, join in singing Christmas carols, and enjoy hot dogs, hot chocolate and other treats.

This special holiday event includes traditional German baked goods, music, table trees with period decorations and antique toy displays. Tours available.
 

German School Open House

The German School Museum observes the holiday season with decorations and refreshments. An authentic German Bakery will feature a wide array of traditional Christmas treats, along with hot mulled cider and musical entertainment. Tour tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children under 12.



 
St. George Rectory Tour

Noon to 8:00 p.m.
